Stories from the Trail

In the words of those who walked with us.

Over two decades of exploring real rock, real trails, and real wilderness, these are the experiences, transformations, and memories shared by participants, parents, and families.

Trekkers walking across a mountain meadow in morning light

Some experiences stay with you long after the trek ends, and that's exactly what Fawes Nature Club has been for me. I've been on numerous treks with them, and every journey has left me feeling more connected—to nature, to people, and to myself.

What I love most is that they never try to pack in huge crowds. Every trek is thoughtfully curated with a small group, making it feel intimate, unhurried, and deeply immersive. You don't just visit nature—you become a part of it.

And the food... I genuinely don't think I've ever eaten this well on a trek! Every meal is made with so much love and care that it becomes a highlight of the journey. After a long day of hiking, nothing beats gathering around for a wholesome, delicious meal.

The adventure doesn't stop at trekking. Whether it's lying under a sky full of stars during stargazing, trying your hand at rock climbing, or slowing down to spot birds with the incredibly knowledgeable team, every experience reminds you to appreciate the little wonders of the wild.

Camping with Fawes is something everyone should experience at least once. Sleeping in tents, waking up to birdsong, breathing fresh mountain air, and living simply for a few days is incredibly grounding. Their commitment to minimal waste and leaving nature as untouched as possible makes the experience even more meaningful. It's rare to find an organization that genuinely puts nature first, and that is something I deeply value.

If you're looking for more than just a trek—if you're looking for an adventure that nourishes your soul, respects the environment, and leaves you with unforgettable memories—Fawes Nature Club is the one. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

The camps organized by FAWES Nature clubs are very exciting, both for children as well as grown-ups. They encourage children to explore, come close to the nature and learn about flora fauna. My daughter has participated in these camps and I have seen her developing many life skills like self-reliance, sharing, socializing, endurance, being accommodative. In addition to these, she has come out of many inhibitions like darkness, heights, and fear of insects through these camps.

I personally learnt appreciating treasure gifted by nature, with help of FAWES nature club’s very professional, highly skilled and knowledgeable founders. Every time I went on a trek or a camp with FAWES, while walking though jungles and mountains I develop a strong connect with the divine super power! I wish all the very best to FAWES Nature Club.

The Yercaud camp introduced me to the beauties of the Indian landscape and will remain a memorable experience. The very competent guides, Daya and Ganesh, made the camp “actively relaxing” by varying the activities, inspiring confidence and creating a very friendly atmosphere among the participants. It assured physical and mental well-being. This trek camp experience changed my view of India.

Trekkers hiking in single file up a scenic grassy mountain slope

The trek to Panchchuli is the second i am taking with Fawes Nature Club and I must say I had a wonderful time. The pace was not too hectic with enough time to absorb and enjoy nature. The arrangements regarding stay, food and transport enroute were excellent. Each one of us was allowed to go at our own pace. I also appreciate the safety aspect considering that I am a woman traveller travelling alone. All in all a very enjoyable trek and looking forward to more such treks.

"I know Ganesh and Daya for more than 3 years and have done numerous trekking trips with them covering Himalayas and local tamil nadu. Their attention to detail, careful planning, adjustment to member needs, caring for environments etc amazes me. My two daughters have permanent place in their summer trekking program. We love being with them and looking forward to go more with Ganesh and Daya. Special thanks to both of them on exposing our family to such wonderful unknown places in India. You both ROCK".

"I had a chance to experience in person a Trek organized by FAWES NATURE CLUB. It was a first time trek for my Family. My Boys had a good time during their trek at Yercaud. They were exposed to a whole new experience through trekking & mountain climbing. The kids will learn to be Independent & take on responsibility for themselves under the able guidance of the Camp leaders. The camp was well organized & all safety needs were taken care of. The food arranged was good & the games, fun activities back at the camp was well enjoyed by all including few of the adults who were part of the trek. It has been a wonderful experience for my family to have been a part of FAWES TREKS & we look forward to more."
